Nafl Fasting/Days on which it is forbidden to fast

Nafl fast can be observed on any day of the year except five days.

The five days are...

1. The day of Eid-ul-Fitr

2. The day of Eid-ul-Azha.

3. 3 days after the day of Eid-ul-Azha.

During these five days it is haraam to fast.

Ø A person who fasts naafil on the 13th, 14th and 15th of every lunar month should fast for the whole year. (Bukharan and Muslim)

In Ijam it is called the fasting of the seed.

Ø The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to fast naafil every Monday and Thursday.

Ø It is advisable to observe Nafl Ramadan an hour before noon.

Ø If you start naafil quickly, it is mandatory to complete it. Therefore, he is obliged to make up for missed fasts if he breaks the fast.

Ø It is not permissible for a wife to observe a naafil fast without her husband's permission while she is at home. If it is left, if the husband orders it, it should be broken, and then it should be made up.

Ø If it is difficult for the guest to eat alone, the host (household) may break the nafl fast for him. If you break it, you have to make up for it later. However, this break is only allowed just before sunset.
